On September 7, 2024 in the region of Samokov was held the spectacular roller skiing competition “Summer Cup Krayiskarets”, organized by the Sports Club “Alexander Logistics” with the support of the Municipality of Samokov and the Bulgarian Ski Federation. The event was held with the help of the sponsors Alexander Logistics, Eurohold, GikGroup, Glavbolgarstroy, Commercial 7 and Luxor Casino.
Over 100 competitors from all over the country took part in the race, competing in a sprint freestyle event. The race was divided into two series and the courses ranged from 600 to 1600 meters depending on the age groups, which were 10 in total. Safety was ensured by the local police, who regulated traffic on the route between the village of Belchin and the main road Samokov-Dupnitsa.
After contested qualifiers, the finalists were voted out and the winners were determined by mass starts. Spectators witnessed fierce battles for the prize places, and the cups were awarded to the gold medalists. Prizes for the top three in each age group included cash prizes and specially made medals with unique designs.
The official guests of the event were the Mayor of Samokov Municipality Eng. Dr. Angel Djorgov, Deputy Mayor Lyuba Klenova, MP Valentin Milushev, the owner of Alexander Logistics Ivan Todorov, the President of the club Alexander Dimitrov and the Deputy Director of Nikola Velchev School Antoaneta Vassileva. Among the attendees were also the legends in cross-country skiing and biathlon Veselin Tsinzov, Georgi Fertunov and Krasimir Videnov, as well as the long-time coaches of the national cross-country skiing team Yordanka Gyuviyska and Plamen Nedyalkov.
The competitors from Alexander Logistics Sports Club achieved excellent results, winning 4 gold and 4 silver medals. The organizers thanked all the judges for their impeccable work and congratulated the winners for their excellent performance.
